This senior portrait session was unique because I photographed not one, but two seniors! Instead of having two separate senior portrait sessions, Maggie and Katie chose to share the senior portrait experience as sisters at a beautiful park in Raleigh. They really enjoyed having their senior portrait session together and kept me on my toes photographing one as the other changed in to the next outfit. Because of her love for literary works and the theater, Nicole began her senior portrait session at her school’s library in Cary. After we finished shooting there, we moved outdoors to a nearby park where we took a few images with her adorable dog—it’s always fun when beloved pets come along! Durham Portrait Photographer | Leo

I had been looking forward to Leo’s sports portrait session since I heard the details of what his mother had in mind—fencing portraits! This meant heading to his fencing club, Mid-South Fencers’ Club in Durham for his portrait session. The fencing club itself made for a great background to take portraits as it had lot’s of character (note to self, potential location for some future Durham senior portait sessions). Like I would have been at his age (or even now), Leo was a little uneasy about having his portrait made at first, but he soon warmed up and did a great job. He even taught me a little about fencing, for example, the fencer’s sword isn’t actually called a sword—it’s a sabre. I really enjoyed documenting Leo’s incredible talent, which recently he earned some national points at a tournament with! Check out the images from his portrait session below!

Our first appointment for Olivia’s senior portraits got delayed because of some hurricane or tropical storm that decided to send Durham a lot of rain and wind. No matter, the second day we picked out turned out to be a beautiful day for a senior portrait session. With mom and sister along for the ride, Olivia had a nice team helping her out at Duke Gardens. She did a wonderful job and we came away with some stunning senior portraits!

I was excited to be Noah’s senior portrait photographer after hearing what he wanted to do. I love photographing seniors on location but was looking forward to having part of his senior portrait in the studio and part on the baseball field. I knew we would come away with some awesome photos for his senior portraits…. Which we did and I gotta be a little more artistic than normal which is always fun!

Some seniors, like Jeremy, are just immediately naturals infront of the camera. Every shot seemed to come out great! Even though he is part of the blue eye club like me, while editing the photos from his senior portrait session, I particularly liked the way the black and white photos came out. As a fellow basketball player, it was easy for me to relate to AJ right away… also I could tell he was about as excited to get his senior portraits done as I was when I was a high school senior looking for a senior portrait photographer!
