Colin’s senior portrait session was one of the first ones of the class of 2015 and like most days in Cary during the middle/late July, the weather was hot! Colin was still able to stay cool throughout the session allowing us to get some great senior portraits. While we didn’t do anything with it for his senior portrait session, Colin is a good tennis player so I’ve seen him play a bit over the years and it was really nice to see his personality and meeting his parents off the court. It was fun time and wonderful senior portrait session… even with the hot North Carolina weather!

For Sarah’s senior portrait session, she wanted to incorporate two of her favorite pastimes—playing soccer and playing her ukulele. To do so, we met at her school in Cary and shot a few traditional portraits in front of the beautiful buildings and a few more on the soccer field nearby. Then we moved to the incredible Umstead Hotel where we strolled along the path near the pond, took a few more portraits, and even got our own little ukulele show from her! She’s quite talented! For Rebecca’s portrait session, we met at a lovely little park in Cary and had such a great time! I set up the session as a way to train a new assistant, and Rebecca was the perfect model for the job. For Matthew’s senior portrait session, we actually had a split session due to a yearbook deadline and an injury he experienced playing baseball. For the first session, we met at my studio and had a great time even though we had to try to hide one of his arms because of the injury. For the second session, we met at a park a few months later, and those images turned out great too, especially since all of the leaves were starting to change! For Jillian’s first birthday, I talked her mother into a family portrait session that included something I wanted to try… a “cake smash!” They had a beautiful and even more delicious cake made by Trilogy Edibles. It was so cute how Jillian’s face lit up with excitement as soon as she saw that small pink cake just for her, and it was even cuter when she smeared it all over her little face! I had previously met Alex while photographing Ian’s Bar Mitzvah and thought she would be perfect to collaborate with to help prepare my assistant for senior portrait season. When arriving at the golf course, it was a little crowded so we made a last minute decision to have the senior portrait session in Downtown Raleigh.
