I was lucky enough to meet Shanda through Models for Charity, an awesome local organization here in Raleigh, NC “of professional men and women in the Triangle who raise money for local charities through modeling.” Back in April, I organized the First Friday Raffle and Auction for Japan, which would have been a failure without the help of so many, but I was especially lucky to have the support of Models for Charity. One of the beautiful models MFC connected me with was Shanda. She did an awesome job of helping and advising me on various things throughout the evening and kept me from going crazy. I can’t thank both Models for Charity in Raleigh and Shanda enough for their help, support and guidance.

I’m still giving a photography tour of Japan, but scheduled this post before I left.
Right after photographing one senior in downtown Raleigh, I was excited at the chance for one more. Amanda had a lot of great ideas, and a new location for me to try out, for her high school senior portraits. It was a lot of fun getting to know her and her parents who were so kind in helping us along the way during her senior portrait session. Not to mention, Amanda was a natural infront of the camera and just about every senior portrait of her came out stunning! I can’t say it enough, but again, I’m so happy to have met another get senior and another great family!

I’ve scheduled this post for the day I’m leaving to give a photography tour of Japan!
I’ve known Paul for about a year now and I couldn’t be happier that he has the same basketball jersey number that I use to rock when I was at his school. I was also very happy to hear that not only did he want me to be his photographer for his senior portrait photos but he wanted to have his senior portraits in a place where I had yet to photograph a senior, downtown Raleigh. It was nice that I could try out my “course” in downtown with somebody that I already knew and was comfortable with just in case everything didn’t go as planned. That being said, everything went great and Paul was awesome infront of the camera! Paul, thanks for your awesome and continued support! Good luck this year and hope you guys can put up a banner so the one we put up won’t be so lonely!

Before every senior portrait photography session I’m the photographer for, I ask every senior to fill out a short questionnaire. Most seniors, including what I would have done when I was a senior, give me back these one word or short phrase answers, but Emily, gave me these wonderful and very thoughtful answers that really helped me prepare for her senior photo session. We had her senior portrait session on the outskirts of a couple of different farms close to where she grew up, which was a nice change of scenery for me! It was a lot of fun being Emily’s photographer and I’m so happy the photos came out great!

Like most guys, Adi admitted that he didn’t particularly like getting his photo taken, but you’d never know it by looking at his high school senior portraits! He did a great job of listening to my directions and before long I didn’t even need to finish my sentences because he knew what to do. While passing by my computer, my wife even asked me if he was a professional model! I tried to take all the credit, but she quickly shot me down! In any case, Adi’s senior portrait photography session was a lot of fun and like all my other seniors, I was really glad he trusted me to be his photographer.

I scheduled this post to go live right about the time I should be having my LASIK eye surgery. I just hope nothing goes wrong so when I get home I can actually see Wynton’s senior photos without my glasses or contacts! Anyway… Wynton probably leads one of the most interesting lives of anyone I know! From drum line, to fencing, to ballet, to basketball, she can do it all! I had so many questions for her, I think I might have started to annoy her… but at least she didn’t let that show in her awesome high school senior portraits!

Laura and I had a wonderful time during her high school senior portrait photography session. She warmed up very quickly to the camera and did a great job making sense of my jumbled directions (every now and then I go through a photography session where my words never seem to come out the way I want them to… so I always blame my time in Japan when I always used the simplest English possible for 3 years)! To make matters worse for me, I knew she was just picking apart my horrible grammer (and probably this blog post) as she is into writing! Hmmm… maybe I should have just let the photos speak for themselves in this one!

Katelyn’s senior portrait photography session was a lot of fun! Besides the photographs coming out great, it was really nice to get to know her and her family as we found out that our families are connected from a little ways back! Not to mention Katelyn and I having some common interests in Japanese culture and Les Misérables (although I know I made her super jealous when I mentioned I saw it in London)! The Triangle really is a small world!

Remember my last high school senior that I said was one of the most chill sessions I’ve had? Well Bretty’s high school senior portrait session was just as relaxed and also, like my previous senior, has these incredible eyes that demand your attention! Bretty was so easy going I was even caught off guard that she didn’t come with a bunch of outfits to change into like most girls do. Don’t get me wrong, she had her two outfits and defiantly rocked those out while staying relaxed and confident. It was a pleasure to be her senior portrait photographer. Thanks Bretty! Second high school senior portrait post of the day, on a roll here! Meg’s senior portrait session was one of the most chill senior sessions I have had yet. Meg quickly warmed up to the camera and naturally fell into poses by herself, making my job really easy. So sorry for the lack of blogging recently, I’ve been busy catching up with many projects but I’m just about all caught up before I head out to lead a photographer tour in Japan! Back on subject, Michael did a great job during his senior portrait photography session and somehow managed to stay cool even though we had another hot day. Maybe it has something to do with him running cross country, so compared to practice, this was literally a “walk in the park.” (hmmm…I think I’ve used that “joke” before on a previous post) Anyway, it was a lot of fun to get to know Michael and his mother during his awesome senior portrait photography session. Tiffany and I had a blast during her senior portrait photography session! She didn’t need anytime adjusting to getting her photo taken and naturally posed herself just about as good as any senior I have photographed yet. I wish I was that comfortable in front of the camera! While working as a senior photographer, I always try and arrive on location 20-30 minutes ahead of time. Since Tiffany and her mother beat me there, I knew she was excited about her senior portrait session… as she should have been! She totally rocked it out and we came away with some incredible shots! John’s senior portrait photography session started out a little different from my previous high school senior sessions in Raleigh. Instead of sweltering heat and humidity, we got humidity and rain! Which, as John pointed out, ended up being a good thing. We got to chat for about 20 or 30 minutes before actually getting to the photography part. We learned that we had quite a bit in common and I was even able to forgive him for preferring German cars to Japanese ones! Ben was the lucky winner of a special senior portrait collection that was auctioned off at the previous Cary Academy PTAA Benefit Auction and the prize couldn’t have gone to a better senior and family. We were still battling the heat during this senior photography session, but compared to the heat Ben takes as a goalie for the lacrosse team, this was a walk in the park for him. Ben’s senior portrait session was a lot of fun, but I’m looking forward to seeing him in action when I take some photos at some lacrosse games!
